Temperatures will struggle to reach 30° this afternoon, and when you factor in a 10-15 mile per hour breeze, it will feel like upper teens.

Still Chilly Today, Snow Chances Return Late Monday

TODAY: Chilly air will linger today, though it won’t be quite as cold. Highs will reach the upper 20s to near 30°. Winds will make it it feel like upper teens and lower 20s.

THIS EVENING: If you are heading out this evening, temperatures will be chilly, but a little bit milder than yesterday evening.

OVERNIGHT: Lows will drop into the mid teens again tonight under clear skies.

MONDAY: Monday will start sunny, but a fast-moving snow-maker will roll in from the SW. It looks like scattered snow showers will begin sometime after the evening commute. Highs will reach the mid 30s.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK…VERY ACTIVE PATTERN! Expect at least 3 weather system to impact the region this week. The first will be tomorrow night and Tuesday. The second will roll in Thursday and Friday. The third looks to arrive next Sunday and Monday. With this pattern, it looks like we will avoid big swings in temperatures. Highs will stay in the 30s and 40s.

Temperatures are falling a bit…Indy is at 19 degrees. The wind is calming a little and it’s coming from the northwest at about 10 mph. A little breeze will stay for overnight and mostly clear skies will let temps fall more. Lows will reach the single digits in a lot of places. Wind chills below zero. A dry and mostly sunny forecast is in store for Sunday with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Tracking More Cold Temps…An Active 8 Day

After some flurries this afternoon, skies will keep clearing this evening and temperatures will fall quickly. Right now Indy is at 20 degrees with a wind chill of 4. This evening bundle up tight-wind chills will stay in the single digits even as the wind calms a little. By tomorrow morning lows will be in the single digits with wind chill values below zero. With a little more sunshine, temperatures on Sunday will increase into the upper 20s and lower 30s. Looking ahead in the 8 day forecast a more winter-like and active weather pattern will settle into central Indiana. Snow showers are possible Tuesday then again Thursday and Friday.

A Bitter Cold Day

Temperatures are stuck in the upper teens and lower 20s. A biting northwest wind is also creating wind chill values in the single digits. A little sunshine is peaking through the clouds and some flurries are hanging around northeastern parts of the state. Be prepared for another very cold night with temperatures reaching the single digits.

Temperatures will only climb to the low 20s this afternoon, but with the gusty wind, it will only feel like single digits. Pockets of flurries will go away this afternoon and skies should clear by this evening, but it will still be cold and windy.

Tracking Bitter Cold Today

TODAY: If you will be out and about for errands or for kids sporting events today, bundle up! Bitter cold air has arrived, and gusty winds. Temperatures will only climb into the low 20s for afternoon highs and the wind chill values will stay in the single digits!

THIS EVENING: Temperatures will stay cold and winds will stay breezy, so wind chill values will hover around zero. Temps will stay in the teens.

OVERNIGHT: Lows will drop to around 10, with perhaps some single digits. Winch chill values will be near or below 0°.

SUNDAY: Expect to see some improvement in temperatures, but it will still be below normal. Expect highs to approach 30° with lots of sunshine.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK: An active weather pattern will set up across the Midwest for the week ahead. That means chances of snow or wintry mix will arrive Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and perhaps by the end of next weekend.

Arctic air is moving in now…scattered snow showers stay in the forecast overnight and early Saturday. An inch or so may stick. What snow falls overnight will stick, with temperatures now below freezing. Forecast lows are in the range of 10-15 degrees. Highs on Saturday will only reach the 20s. It will be another cold start on Sunday, with morning temperatures near 10 degrees. With some sun, it will be near 30 degrees on Sunday.

Below Freezing Now – Tracking Snow

Most of the snow that fell earlier today melted due to temperatures above freezing. It is now below freezing, so watch for the snow to start to stick and the roads to become slick. Snowfall potential is 1-2 inches. The snow showers will continue to fall off and on through mid-day Saturday. It will get colder too, with lows in the range of 10-15 degrees early Saturday. Highs on Saturday will be in the 20s.

Snow, Sleet And Frigid Air – New Advisory

A winter weather advisory has been issued for northeastern Indiana until 4am Saturday. This includes Marion, Hartford City and Portland across our northeastern viewing area. There is also a winter weather advisory in effect for southeastern Indiana until noon Saturday for Franklin and Ripley counties.

Sleet and snow will accumulate this evening and overnight across central Indiana. 1-2 inches is expected. The chance for snow will linger through early Saturday morning.

In addition to the sleet and snow, arctic air will be a concern. Overnight temperatures will be in the range of 10-15 degrees. Forecast highs on Saturday are only in the 20s. Lows Sunday morning will again be near 10 degrees, but with some sun forecast highs are near 30.
